Technology behind Hikvision ColorVu Technology
Hikvision has pioneered a new innovative video surveillance technology that is efficient in capturing colored CCTV Footages even in low or zero lighting. To achieve this, ColorVu Cameras have been designed with three new components namely :
- Advanced lenses
- High sensitivity sensors
- Additional built-in light source
ColorVu camera lenses contain super-aperture, reaching up to F1.0, which allows more light to enter the lens so that image brightness can be increased while being captured. Hikvision ColorVu Camera lenses also feature Broad-Band Anti-Reflection (BBAR) coating that decreases the loss of light due to reflection. Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) Optical glass helps in reducing the light flare and efficiently reproduce image’s sharpness and color saturation.
Hikvision ColorVu Cameras sensors demonstrate an extraordinary photovoltaic conversion efficiency. They employ an advanced sensor technology – a new light-collection structure that vastly improves the utilization of light. Tests show ColorVu cameras continually provide colorful, sharp images right down to the lowest light levels. At the same time, their self-adapting 3D DNR algorithm guarantees high imaging quality by reducing random noises and hence the ghost effect on moving objects.
Apart from advanced sensors and lenses, ColorVu Camera also contains an external warm supplemental light. This light helps in providing a light source when there is no lighting. Extra care has been taken to make sure that this light is soft, warm and environmentally-friendly to reduce any harsh discoloration of the object being illuminated.
Advantages – ColorVu Camera Vs Conventional Cameras
Useful in scenarios where clarity is important :
Color Vu Camera helps avoid images which are dark with no distinct features. Such images taken in low lighting do not provide any useful information if being used. Darkness provides cover for theft, trespassing, and other crimes but ColorVu uncovers it all. When using a conventional camera with infrared lighting for night monitoring, people, vehicles, or other important objects are blurry and blend into the background, making it difficult to identify details.
Accurate color rendering :
ColorVu renders much clearer colors compared to convention cameras. It has a much higher CRI and is able to reproduce colors of various objects faithfully and closely to natural light source. Hence the objects appear more natural and their actual color is revealed accurately even in low lighting.
High performance in low-light environments :
Even in low-light environment, where conventional cameras are also capable of handling colors to some extent, the larger aperture and slow shutter speed of ColorVu Camera lense, help in achieveing much better performance. Fast shutter speeds freeze motion while capturing images. Hence it is able to provide clearly captured color information and richer details compared to conventional camera images.
ColorVu camera ensures a balanced brightness by providing proper exposure while capturing the video.
Balanced brightness :
CCTV footage can be quite annoying when we discover that most of the videos look very dark and dull or very light and washed out. This happens due to incorrect exposure. Exposure is the amount of light that gets into your camera and produces the picture on the image sensor. If a photo is too dark it means it has been underexposed and if it is too light it has been overexposed. Some areas are okay to be underexposed or overexposed if they aren’t the main focus of the video
Realistic Rendering :
ColorVu Cameras are able to provide stunning realistic images compared to conventional Cameras. This is particularly important if the cameras are placed in grassy park or forested areas as green and yellows are the hardest colors to accurately reproduce. Also when the camera is placed interiors, it ensures that whatever is outside doesn’t get blown out, ensuring that full dynamic range is captured, hence create a more realistic CCTV Footage.
Where should the ColorVu Cameras be used
- Residential : Multi apartment residential complex, individual houses mayoften have several low-light areas that become potentially risky and difficult to navigate in darkness, such as walkways, stairwells, and other outdoor areas.
- Street Corners : Well lighted streets or small lanes also have some corners or areas where there is not enough lighting. Such areas will have a much better quality image with a ColorVu Camera.
- Businesses : Users can monitor entrances and exits as well as dimly-lit interior and exterior areas where theft or other crimes occur, such as dark hallways and walkways, dumpster areas, and loading docks.
- Parking Lots : Parking lots specially in public places are huge and having a cost effective colorVu cameras will be much more useful than adding extra lighting.
- Parks and Recreation Areas : Strategically placed ColorVu Cameras illuminate areas with limited lighting that pose risks for crime and make it unsafe for the members of the community
